Chocolate Dipping Spoons
Yield: 12 spoons
Time: 15 minutes
Your everyday spoons dressed up with chocolate and spices! They get along nicely with coffee and hot chocolate, and make the sweetest homemade gifts!
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
For Peppermint-Chocolate spoons: 1-2 candy canes, crushed or roughly chopped
For Mexican Chocolate spoons: cayenne pepper (to taste), cinnamon (to taste, extra for dusting)
(Or get creative!)
Set up a double boiler. Gently melt chocolate chips in the top container, stirring frequently to keep the chocolate smooth and prevent burning. (If you’re making the Mexican Chocolate Spoons, stir in cayenne pepper and cinnamon to taste.)
Dip a teaspoon into the melted chocolate, being sure to evenly coat the back fo the spoon. Once the spoon is dipped to your liking, set coated spoon on a parchment paper-ed baking sheet.
Add toppings while chocolate is still warm and soft. I used crushed candy canes for Peppermint Chocolate Spoons, and a final dusting of cinnamon to finish the Mexican Chocolate Spoons.
Once spoons are topped transfer to the fridge to chill until the chocolate is set. Enjoy them stirred into coffee or hot chocolate. Or wrap them up and give them as homemade gifts made with love!
